Russia: Alsou and Andrey Malahov to host Eurovision semi finals

Popular Russian TV presenter Andrey Malahov and Alsou, the runnerup of the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest will be the hosts of the 2009 contest semi finals. The host of the final has not been confirmed yet but it is being heavily tipped that Holywood superstar Milla Jovovich has been approached by Channel One and is close to an agreement.

Andrey Malahov is the most popular TV presenter currently in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 host country and he also presented the Russian final this year as well as hosted the running order draw held yesterday in Moscow. Alsou, a very popular singer in Russia, represented her country successfully in 2000 when she came second with Solo. The two Russian stars will be the hosts of the two Eurovision Song Contest 2009 semi finals on 12 and 14 May.

The host or hosts of the grand final to be held on the 16th May have not been confirmed yet. Earlier reports on the Serbian press, though, seem to be about to be confirmed as Milla Jovovich, the Serbian-Ukrainian Holywood model and actress among other things is reported to be close to signing an agreement with Channel One. Milla gained worldwide fame when she starred in the SciFi movies, Resident evil andThe fifth element.
