A sneak preview of the Eurovision 2009 opening act is now available. Russia will be having children perform with the cover versions of several ex-winner of the Eurovision Song Contest!
The initial idea belongs to Elena Pindjoyan. Her children will perform the cover version of the famous Eurovision songs that once won the contest. Among these the audience will hear Elena Paparizou, Dana international, Ruslana, Marija Serifovic and of course, last winner who brought Eurivision Song Contest to Moscow, Dima Bilan.
"Our project was discussed seriously with the representative of Channel One, who really like the idea. We tried to keep up with the level of their organisation", says Elena. "This means that all the costumes are an exact copy of those worn by the winner and children sing live, even the 5 year old Lora, who sings Molitva…," explains Pindjoyan.
A special audition was announced to find these children, who not only had to sing well but also match the appearance of the winners. For instance, the 8 year old Arseniy, who plays the role of Evgeniy Pluschenko on roler skates had to agree to a special hair cut that had to look like the one Pluschenko has.
A boy who sing Dima Bilan's song is a 8 year old Ilayla is from Bulgaria. Being quite fluent in English, Ilayla speaks little Russian. "When i heard the song, I knew instantly that i will learn it quickly," he says . "I study english sinceI was5!"
The final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 which will take place in Moscow this year will be held on Ma 16th after the two semi-finals that will be on 12th and 14th of May on Olimpiyskiy stadium in Moscow.
