Tonight, the FYR Macedonian national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held. 16 acts competed and in the end it was decided that Next Time will go to Moscow with the song Nesto sto ke ostane written by Damjan Lazarov and Jovan Jovanov.

The poll voters partly agreed with the voters in the national final. Kaliopi & Naum were the runaway poll winners with 38.2% and finished second in the national final losing by only one point. Next Time had finished equal sixth in the poll with 4.9%.

FYR Macedonia has qualified for the Eurovision Song Contestfinal in every year with one semi final just to miss the top ten. Last year, Tamara, Vrcak & Adrijan would have also qualified according to the televoting as they finished 10th with their song Let me love you. However, the jury joker was given to Sweden eliminatingthe FYRMacedonian entry in thesecond semi final.
