After three semi finals and a last chance round, the Norwegian national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest will be held tonight. The eight acts that have qualified will compete to become Norways's 48 representative in the competition.
The show
The national final to be broadcast on NRK1 will be held in two parts. In the first part to be broadcast from 19:55 CET to 20:50 CET, the eight songs will be presented and televoting will choose the top four. These for songs will then be presented again in the second part of the show held between 21:20 CET and 22:20 CET. The eventual winner will be chosen by televoting again. The show will be hosted by Maria Haukaas Storeng and Per Sundnes at the Spektrum in Oslo.

Maria Haukaas Storeng easily won the 2008 Melodi Grand Prix final getting almost 80,000 votes more than runner-up Torstein Sødal. With the song Hold on be strong, she finished 5th in the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade giving Norway its best placing since 2003. The song was a #1 hit in Norway and also entered the charts in Sweden and Denmark.
