Tonight, the Irish national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held. Six acts competed and by a jury and televoting, it was decided that Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy will go to Moscow with the song Et cetera written by Niall Mooney, Jonas Gladnikoff, Daniele Moretti and Christina Schilling.

The esctoday.com poll voters widely agreed with the results. Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy had finished second in the poll with strong 29.2%. Poll winner Laura-Jayne Hunter finisehd third in the national final.
Ireland was represented in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest by Dustin the Turkey, who did not qualify from the first semi final with his song Irelande 12 pointes. In 2009, the country will take part in the second semi final on 14th May.
