Earlier controversy arose when apparently some of the other Eurosong 2009 composers were unhappy that a rival song is already available on Youtube, and claimed they were threatened with expulsion from the competitionif they made their songs public before the Thursday afternoon radio show preview on RTÉ. They supposedly felt that Song 05:"I Wish I Could Pretend" has nowan unfair advantage as a result.
But an RTÉ spokesman later said that,"This was an understanding and not a strict rule, and is therefore not an expulsion matter."
Also, RTÉ announced that they will air both semi finals and Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in May.
