The winning song was decided by televoting and a jury, which included the votes of a poll held by esctoday.com. In the gala show, the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest representatives from Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, Turkey and Malta performed their songs.

The result of the international jury poll:

  1. This is our night – 61.18%
  2. Out of control- 25.88%
  3. Right on time – 12.94%

The jury and the televoting also saw the song This is our night in first place.

Greece has been one of the most succesful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years not finishing outside the top ten since 2003. In 2008, Kalomoira won the first semi final and finished third in the final in Belgrade with her entry Secret combination. In 2009, the country will take part in the second semi final on 14th March.
