Tonight, Slovenia will kick off its national final selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with the EMA semi final being held. 14 singers will compete for one of the eight tickets to the national final on Sunday, where they will join the pre-qualified wildcard entrants.
The show
Maja Martina Merljakand Peter Poles will host the show that starts at at 19:55 CET and will be broadcast on RTVSlo. 14 acts will present one song each and televoting and the expert jury (50% each) will choose eight of them to move forward to the national final tomorrow, Sunday. The qualifiers will there meet the six wildcards entrants that are already qualifed for the final.

Slovenia was represented in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest be Rebeka Dremelj, who finished 11th in the first semi final with Vrag naj vzname thus not making it to the final. In 2009, Slovenia will take part in the second semi final on 14th May.
