The draw for the allocation of the 38 countries participating in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in the two semi finals will take place this Friday 30th January at 13.00 CET. We will soon know if the event will be streamed live on Eurovision.tv who will be covering it live.

This coming Friday, 30th January, will see the draw for the allocation of the 38 countries in the two semi finals of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to take place on May 12th and 14th in Moscow. The 38 countries will be divided in six pots based on previous years' voting patterns and from those the nineteen countries taking part in each of the semi finals will be drawn.

The semi finals allocation draw will be followed by the Broadcast and Viewers Voting Draw. In this draw, the Big Four countries, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain and the host country who are traditionally pre qualified directly to the final will be divided in the two semi finals as well. This draw will determine which of the two semis will be broadcast in each of the five countries and subsequently in which of the semis the local audience gets to vote.

The draws will take place on Friday, January 30th at the Mariott Royal Aurova Hotel in Moscow (11/20 Petrovka St.) at 15:00 local time (13:00 CET).

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
