The second semi final of the Finnish national selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight. Another four songs were presented and the top two were chosen by televoting to move forward to the national final on 31st January. The third and fourth placed song will get another chance to qualify on 31st January, before the actual national final.
The following songs made it to the final:
- Waldo's People – Lose control – 44.3%
- Remu – Planeeta – 28.6%
The following songs enter the second chance round:
- Sani – Doctor, Doctor
- Passionworks – Surrender

The esctoday.com readers hardly agreed with the results of the televoting. Passionworks, who won the poll with 43.5% of the votes, did not make it to the final while Remu, who finished last in the poll with only 4.3% qualified finishing second in the televote. However, Waldo's People finished second in the poll with strong 39.1% won the semi final. Sani finished third in the poll (13.0%) and also did not make it to the final.
Finland was represented in 2008 by the group Teräsbetoni who finished 22nd in the final in Belgrade with Missä miehet ratsastaa.
