The Sammarinese national broadcaster, SMRTV, will reveal the name of the artist selected to represent San Marino at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest today.

During a special press conference at the SMRTV studios, the Sammarinese national broadcaster will unveil that artist who has been internally selected to represent the nation at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Due to a change in the original schedule, the press conference will take place at an earlier time of 11:00 CET.

The conference will be attended by both the SMRTV Director, Carlo Romeo, along with San Marino’s Head of Delegation, Alessandro Capicchioni.

Since the country’s debut at the contest in 2008, SMRTV has chosen to opt for internal selections in order to select the nation’s past representatives, with this year being no exception.

SMRTV has hinted that the artist internally selected to represent San Marino at the upcoming contest is a successful professional already known within Europe with the nation hoping to qualify to the grand final as they did in 2014.

Last year, Michele Perniola & Anita Simoncini were internally selected to represent San Marino at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with their entry Chain of lights. The duo received a total of 11 points in the second semi-final, ending in 16th place.
