Just 5 days before polls close in Spain, the fight for the overall first place in the online RTVE voting is still running, with Soraya and Melody continuously swapping the gold and silver medal. The difference between the two singers is very slight, with Soraya topping the ranking with 300 votes over Melody.

A total of 4 million votes have already been cast in this first stage of the Spanish selection Eurovisión 2009: El Retorno, and it seems that as the end of the deadline approaches, the voting frenzy increases. Surely the battle that is taking place at the top of the chart is one of the main reasons. It is very difficult to predict who will be the overall winner of this first stage, due to the scarce difference separating Melody and Soraya, the candidates who attract the majority of the votes.

As of the publication time of this article, Soraya topped the scoreboard with 135,224 votes, closely followed by Melody y Los Vivancos, with 134,859 points. In third place are Santa Fe, a band familiar to the Spanish Eurovision selection processes, with 106,723. These three hopefuls concentrate the 9% of the total vote. The overall top-5 is completed by La La Love You, counting 75,401 votes and Carlos Barroso, with 72,901. Remember that the 5 top ranked acts in each category will qualify for the televised stage of the Spanish selection.
