On 12 January, BHRT decides on which song to send to the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. A BHRT panel of experts wil select the song and the performer. The format follows previous years' success. An open call for songs closed on 20th December and more than 50 songs were received.

On 12th January 2009, BHRT, the national broadcaster of Bosnia-Herzegovina, will announce which song will represent the country at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. BHRT opted for the same format as in the previous several years – an open call for songs and a BHRT panel of experts to decided on both the song and the performer.

The open call for songs was closed on 20th December 2009. More than 50 applications were submitted for the selection process. However, the actual number of songs submitted may be higher as some authors submit more than just one song when applying. A BHRT panel of experts will meetto select the song that willrepresent Bosnia-Herzegovina in Moscow. The song will be presented to the general public in a special TV showon 1 March, as it has been done in most recent years.
