The polls for the third annual esctoday.com awards closed at midnight CET and now it is time to reveal the results, which are traditionally made public on Christmas Eve, 24th December. We continue with the categories Best female performance, Best male performance and Best duo/group performance.

The 2008 esctoday.com award for Best female performance goes to…

  • ANI LORAK of Ukraine for Shady lady

Having already won in the Performance of the year category, it is no surprise that Ani Lorak alsays takes home this trophy. It is the second time already that this award goest o an artist from Ukraine following Tina Karol in 2006.Last year, this award went to Magdi Rúzsa from Hungaryfor her Unsubstantial blues.

  2. Vânia Fernandes of Portugal for Senhora do mar – 27.6%
  3. Maria Haukaas Storeng of Norway for Hold on be strong – 18.9%

The 2008 esctoday.com award for Best male performance goes to…

  • Boaz Mauda of Israel for The fire in your eyes

Boaz Mauda was selected internally by the Israeli broadcaster to represent his country in the Eurovision Song Contest while the song was chosen in a national final. Boaz finished fifth in the first semi final and was therefor thefirst singer ever to qualify from the semi final despite having had to perform at #2. In the final, he reached again the top ten finishing ninth with 124 points. In 2006, this award went to Dima Bilan from Russia while last year, Belarus' Koldun took home the trophy.

The 2008 esctoday.com award for Bestduo/group performance goes to…

  • Euroband of Iceland for This is my life

Euroband from Iceland had to go through one of the most complicated national selections ever including no less than 17 shows. In the Eurovision Song Contest, they had to open the second semi final and would be the first Icelandic entrants to reach the final since 2004 reaching eighth place with 68 points. In the final, they reached 14th place with almost the same amount of points – 64. Euroband follow in the footsteps of Lordi and D'Nash, who won this award in 2006 and 2007.
