RTS, the Serbian broadcaster has announced the dates of the next Beovizija, the country's preselection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster has decided to retain the past year's format with one semi final before the final.

An open call for songs will be launched by RTS on 24th December and it will close thirty days later. The competition is open to Serbian citizens exclusively and the songs must be in Serbian once more. The only difference to past years is that the winner (performer as well as composer)will also be awarded a money prize but the exact sum has not been announced yet.

As in previous years, twenty songs, selected by a jury, will compete in the semi final to be held at the Sava Centar on 7th March. Ten of them will proceed to the final to be held the next day. The winner will be decided by televote and jury vote at a 50-50 split.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
