Yesterday the 21 semifinalists of the Latvian preselection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest were announced. Unlike last year when the songs had been made available online well before the shows, this time the songs will not be revealed until the semifinals.

All but two artists' names are now known for Eirodziesma 2009, the remaining artists should be announced before 9 January. esctoday.com can confirm that the Latvian national broadcaster, LT will film the songs from betwen 19th -21st January. escotday.com can also confirm that following the filming, they will host a draw to determine therunning order of the semi finals.

The three semi finals of the Latvian 2009 preselection will be aired on 31st January, 7th February and 14th February. Although the shows will not be live, the artists will be present in the studio during the televoting. Seven songs will compete in each round and three of them will qualify to the final. There also will be a second chance heat on 21 February to decide the final song to go through to the Eirodziesma final.
