De Toppers, the Dutch hopes for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, have decided upon the six songs they will perform at the Nationaal Songfestival 2009 on the 1 February according to De Telegraaf. Dutch eurofans are in for a disapointment as the Songfestival in concert show has been postponed

The popular Dutch trio, in their new lineup after Jeroen van der Boom replaced Jerard Joling, received no less than 300 songs to choose from. "It was quite a job to pick the six songs,"Jeroen stated. "In at least one of the six songs we can perfectly combine our strenghts," he concludes. It still remains to be announced how the winning song will be picked during the Dutch final to be held on 1 February.

A disappointment awaited Dutch Eurofans expecting to attend Songfestival in Concert scheduled for 20 December with the participation of more than 20 local Eurostars. The organisers, faced with low ticket sales and the withdrawal of several sponsors, the main one included, had to postpone the event in the hopes of finding new sponsorship. A new date is expected to be announced in the weeks to follow.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
