Last Sunday in Paris, members of the OGAE France held their Autumn meeting, for the first time all day long. The morning guest was Christine Minier, Frances representative in the Eurovision Song Contest in Brussels. Back in 1987, her song Les mot damour nont pas de dimanche placed 14th with 44 points.
In spite of the poor result, Christine didn’t regret anything and still considers Eurovision as a great experience. Asked by eurofans, Miss Minier said that Johnny Logan was of course the very favorite to win. As for her own performance, she confessed that, although dressed from head to toe by Christian Dior – she didn’t feel comfortable. “I looked like a candy! This was not me !”.“Why is your record one of most difficult to find for collectors”, many asked. “The record company guaranted a release only if I finished in the top 5”. So this is quite miraculous that Tréma – the label – at last put copies on the market.
On Eurovision, Christine Minier confessed that she doesn’t watch the event every year. She’s an Abba fan and she also found Lordi’s show and victory amazing.Regarding her career, Christine is still member of the 4-singer band La Bande à Basile, which gives a big number of galas around the country. She and her colleagues will join the “Age tendre et tête de bois”, a 60’s and 70’s revival tour, from next March on.The French eurofans’ guest not only received flowers for her kind company, but also an OGAE France honorary member card, after a short speech by Mathieu Kroon, president of the club. This is the very first one awarded to a guest since the club exists. The second singer to receive the card was Corinne Hermès, 1983 Eurovision winner, who was the afternoon’s guest. Soon another report on this part and an exclusive interview of the last-to-date French winner… but for Luxembourg !
