Kylie and Dannii Minogue have recorded the classic Abba hit The winner takes it all for the soundtrack of BBC2 comedy series, Beautiful people. It was released on 27th of October on the show soundtrack together with the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest British entry Ooh Ahh Just a little bitby Gina G and a song from Baccara, the Spanish disco duo who competed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 for Luxembourg.
Beautiful people is a six-part comedy series written by Jonathan Harvey, the creator of successful BBC sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme. That show's title and theme music has been the same titled ABBA hit in its original version though. As part of his homage to the world's longest running television show, one of the episodes featured the lead characters dressing up as Bucks Fizz and performig their own version of the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest winning routine.
The new showis based on the best-selling childhood memories of Simon Doonan, Creative director of Barneys in New York and it is set in the British suburban Reading of the end of the 90’s. The sitcomwas aired from 2nd October to 6th November with high viewingfigures andpositive reviews.
Kylie and DanniiMinogue got together to record a new version of The winner takes it all with the BBC concert orchestra just for the soundtrack of the series. Kylie is currently touring the world and her sister is defending her crown as the winning judge on current ITV hit show, The X Factor.
Also on the soundtrack is , (ooh ahh) Just a little bit sung by Gina G, which finished at a respectable 8th positionfor the United Kingdom atthe 1996 Eurovision Song Contest and became a smash hit around the world.
Baccara appear on the soundtrack not with their 1978 Eurovision Song Contest entry Parlez-vous français? but with their biggest hit, the disco evergreen Yes sir, I can boogie.
