Stelios Konstantas will represent Cyprus at the 48th Eurovision Song Contest. Yesterday, the Cypriot newspaper Fileleftheros reported about it and in broadcaster RIK's (internationally known as CyBC) breakfast show Proti Kalimera the news has been confirmed. He will sing Feeling alive on May 24th in Riga.

In an article entitled With Stelios Konstantas at Eurovision, the newspaper said that the jury responsible for the Cypriot selection came to a decision last Sunday. According to the same source, the selected song is a rhythmic dance-pop composition. The jury has already submitted it's decision to the broadcaster's Board of Directors who are in turn expected to give their approval today.

Stelios Konstantas is a familiar name in Cyprus and has already released an album titled Me ksehna and the maxi-single Me taksideveis. Stelios has participated twice in the Cypriot selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in the past. In 1997 he came second with the song I grammi tis ntropi. In 1999 he reached the forth place with Methysmeno feggari.

Stella Georgiadou, a very successful singer in both Cyprus and Greece, although highly anticipated to represent the island this year, only came up third. The first runner-up was Marina Solonos who also participated in the Cypriot Final in 2000 (3rd place).

An official announcement by the Cypriot broadcaster CyBC is expected this evening.
