The 17th edition of the OGAE Home Composed Song Contest for amateur composers, lyricists and singers started just four days ago, but already seven songs from four different countries were submitted.

The rules dictate that any participant must be primarily a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest and an amateur (co-)composer, a (co-)lyricist and / or a (co-) performer of the song submitted. The songs cannot have been released for commercial use (CD or download).

The deadline to submit songs will be 12th October and the voting period will take place between 13th of October and will end 31st of October 2008. All participants and visitors of HCSC 2008 homepage will be able to vote for their favourite song. It goes without saying that participants cannot vote for their own entry. The winner will be announced on 3rd November via a special voting show video. The organisers hope to top last year's record 28 songs from 11 countries this year.

For the first time in HCSC history there is a cooperation with a radio station, Radio International from the Netherlands. Well known presenter JP will discuss and present all entries of Home Composed Song Contest 2008. Together with his show guests he will assess this year's songs and send their points to Hamburg / Germany where HCSC 2008 will be virtually hosted by last years winner Stefan Engel.

For further information please visit http://www.hcsc2008.eu and feel free to submit your song!

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
