The Spanish public broadcaster TVE will once again hold a public selection to choose Spain's representative couple for this year's Eurovision Dance Contest. The programme will be called ¡Quiero bailar! (I want to dance), to be aired in the forthcoming months.
Last year, TVE aired the show ¡Mira quién baila! A Eurovisión to choose Spanish representatives for Eurovision Dance Contest 2007, held in London. The public broadcaster chooses once again the formula of public and open selection for the 2008 edition of this event.
¡Quiero bailar! will be mainly a talent show featuring 14 hopefuls that will fight it out to represent their country in Glasgow on September 6th. Every week, an expert jury and the public will eliminate contestants. Thus, the initial list of 14 will be narrowed down to 4, those that will compete in the grand final.
The host of the weekly shows will be Josep Lobató, known to many in Spain for his job as presenter in the commercial channel Cuatro.
Last year Spain selected Amagoya Benlloch and Abraham Martínez as their representatives in Eurovision Dance Contest. Their cha cha cha and freestyle paso doblewon 9th place with 38 points (tied with Denmark).
