Dima Bilan took a leaf out of Johnny Logan and Toto Cutugno's books by becoming the third consecutive solo male artist to win the Eurovision Song Contest dressed in all white. After his convinving win on Saturday, the first time in 18 years a solo male singer has won, he made a special appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest afterparty. You can see the esctoday.com video of his performance below.
As the firework residue is cleared from the streets of Belgrade, and the Eurovision flags are lowered and packed away, esctoday.com would like to thank our readers, our hosts in Serbia, RTS and the EBU for what we believe was one of the best organised, best presented and most exciting Eurovision Song Contests in years.
The two semi final system appears to have worked well, the final was a hugely strong line-up of quality songs comprising many different musical styles and the show was magnificent.
Whilst some issues remain, namely the presentation of the voting, the political/diaspora voting in the final, the result announcements of only the three highest votes, which seems tofurtherenhance the problem, and the ability of most viewers to second guess many of the top points, it is clear that the Eurovision Song Contest is moving firmly in the right direction.
So, as the esctoday.com team return to every day life and another Eurovision Song Contest ends, we look forward to covering our winner, Dima Bilan as he departs on the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest Winners Tour later today. esctoday.com will be meeting him in London at the UK Eurovision Winners Party and we look forward to another great night at Scala, London.
