The second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was the second most watched programme yesterday on Portuguese television. Around one and a half million people gathered in front of the TV screens to watch Vania reach the final.

A rating success can be the way to describe the broadcast of the second semifinal wihch saw Portugal qualify for the final. After the Portuguese national final was on the top ten list of the most watched shows the day it took place, the semifinal takes second place.

In the morning show on RTP Praça da Alegria, Vania was interviewed live from Belgrade by the Portuguese comentator Isabel Angelino. She expressed all the joy on achieving such a result and thanked all the people who helped reaching it.

Around the country the excitement is rising and parties are being prepared to watch the final. there will be a fan gathering atBar Hemingway in Cascais, near Lisbon, and the hometown of Vania, Funchal, will have a big screenfor people to watch the final. These are two among other gatehrings.

Vania will perform "Senhora do Mar"on position 13 in the final.
