Can we already declare Poland as one of the black horses in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest? Michał Szpak has won the Polish national selection Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 beating top favourites as Margaret and Edyta Górniak, and is now leading the YouTube views among other Eurovision 2016 participants.

The video, uploaded on 13 March to the Eurovision Song Contest’s official YouTube, stands now on 1.06M views. In comparison, Croatia’s Lighthouse which stands on 1.25M views was uploaded on 9 March and Armenia’s LoveWave has reached 1.12M views after being online since 2 March.

The reason for that, as it seems, is that the Eurovision Song Contest has become very popular in Poland after the successful participation on Donatan & Cleo in 2014 as well as the qualification of Monika Kuszyńska in 2015.
“Despite Margaret and Edyta being the favourites among the fans, the typical Polish people decided that Color of your life is the song that they want to see representing Poland in Eurovision. This is the genre that our nation likes”, explains Ola Wąsek, editor in Poland’s Eurovision news portal eurowizja.org“The video of Color of your life is extremely popular – it is mostly because the Polish media online is interested in Eurovision like they have never  been before, with many articles published on gossip portals, where people can also find a link to the video. Michał has also took part in Agent, a popular show of the big channel TVN, so he is a big name in Poland’s showbuisness.”
