The first two of the four so-called wild card holders in the Irish selection series You're a Star, were named tonight during the first programme of the second phase of the show. While one of them won the televoting, the other one was voted out of the series.
According to the website DotEurovision, the two female artists Lisa Bresnan and Catriona MacGinty has became the first two wild card contestants to enter the second phase of You're a Star.
Lisa Bresnan, who received the most televotes by singing Alanis Morrisette's Thank You during the live broadcast, was the choice of the jury member and record company chief Darren Smith. The Eurovision songwriter Phil Coulter put his faith in Catriona MacGinty, who failed and was voted off the show after her performance of The Eagles' Heartache Tonight.
These are the results from the first of the two heats of the show:
1st: Lisa Bresnan (wild card)
2nd: Caoimhe & Shauna McElhinney – I know him so well
3rd: Michael Leonard – Knockin' on Heaven's Door
4th: Sarah Brophy – I say a little Prayer
5th: Catherine Yore – Natural Woman
6th: Azi Jegbefume – My Love is your Love

The grand Irish national final will be broadcast on 8 March and will take place at the Helix Theatre in Dublin.
