FYR Macedonia: Kaliopi to premiere Dona on 7 March

MRT, the national broadcaster from FYR Macedonia has confirmed to ESCToday that it will  premiere Kaliopi’s Eurovision entry Dona on 7 March.

Kaliopi, who is a superstar in FYR Macedonia and in the neighbouring Balkan countries will be representing her homeland for the 2nd time. She was selected via an internal selection in order to represent FYR Macedonia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Yes, Kaliopi’s song is ready! ESCToday has learned that MRT and Kaliopi have been working round on their Eurovision entry. MRT and Kaliopi’s team are very happy and pleased with the final outcome and result. Kaliopi has brought a lot of joy and positivity to MRT’s Eurovision team, thus this will be showcased in her upcoming song and performance. We will get to listen to her entry on 7 March.

FYR Macedonia will release the official song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 on the 7 March at 20.15 CET during a special show which will be aired on MRT 1.

Kaliopi’s Eurovision entry is titled Dona, and has been co-produced by long term musical partners Kaliopi and Romeo Grill. Romeo has written the music and set the arrangement of Dona, he’s also responsible for  the musical production of the song, whilst Kaliopi has written the lyrics. It is the same team that has made the now legendary song Crno i Belo (ESC 2012). Kaliopi will  perform Dona in Macedonian language.

Kaliopi represented FYR Macedonia at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Crno i belo.

FYR Macedonia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 and is yet to win the event.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globen Arena.
