After getting no less than 90 submissions for Selecţia Naţionala 2016, the Romanian broadcaster TVR has released the shortlist of twelve acts that will participate in the contest.

The twelve acts will participate in a semifinal that will be held on 4 March. The top six, decided by a mixture of jury votes and televotes, will qualify to the final on 6 March, where televoting only will decide which song will represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

During the last few days, a committee decided on which acts will participate in the selection. “It was a tight competition, but despite the heated debate, the five members of the jury had reached a result and decided on the list of 12 semifinalists of national selection. I would like to thank the committee members for the efforts over the three days, as now we know the artists who will perform on the stage in Baia Mare” said Iuliana Marciuc, the executive producer of the event.
