Iceland will begin its quest for selecting the entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 tonight. This will be the first show out of three of Söngvakeppnin 2016.

Tonight, six acts will perform at the Háskólabíó (University Cinema) of Reykjavík. The top three, chosen by televoting, will qualify to the final. The losing three entries might still have a chance to go the the final, as after the two semifinals will be held, an expert jury will award a wildcard to one of the non-qualifying entries (from both semifinals).
