Carola Häggkvist has been chosen to be the female host of the fourth and last one of the Swedish preselections of Melodifestivalen 2003. But there is more; in the break she will perform two songs, one former hit and one surprise.

The four Swedish preselections of Melodifestivalen 2003 will in total see eight hosts, two for each show, one male and one female. So far the broadcaster is still keeping it a secret who seven of the hosts will be, but the name of the last one was published today: Carola Häggkvist will lead the last of the four shows, organized on 8 March. To give the event a crowning touch, she has decided, in cooperation with SVT, to perform two songs during the break. One of them will be either Främling (Sweden 1983) or Fångad av en stormvind (winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1991). The other song is not yet known, but it will be something not usually connected to Carola as an artist: “SVT wants to give the televiewers the possibility to watch me do something they've never seen me do on stage before. I'm not completely sure what exactly it will be, I guess I've never sung jazz or country,” the star told in a laughing manner the Swedish news paper Expressen.

The famous artist is really excited about her upcoming work as host and guest singer: “This is truely a jackpot for me. It's going to be really great. I'm looking enormously forward to lead the event. The discussions with SVT actually started even before my spontaneity made me submit an entry to the selection commitee.”

Three years ago, in Melodifestivalen 2000, Carola also showed up during the show as a guest artist.
