The Sanmarinese broadcaster have confirmed that the country's first ever entry for the Eurovision Song Contest will be internally selected on 11th March.

Interest is very high but information is trickling in about San Marino's debut entry in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. SMTV have received a great number of songs after their open call for songs not only from San Marino and Italy but from all over Europe. Several Swedish composers have submitted entries, as well as artists from Croatia, Russia, Ireland, Romania and Greece, just to name a few. The specially appointed jury will make their decision on 11th March.

So far a few names have been confirmed to have submitted entries. Among them, Jalisse with Tra rose e cielo, Michele Imberti with Toccare il cielo and Massimo Bertacci with Credo. Also, L'Aura, who participated in this year's San Remo festival is hotly tipped to have submitted a song, possibly her festival entry Basta but no confirmation has been received yet. You can watch L'Aura's Basta here.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
