The Common Linnets are an initiative of beloved Dutch singer Ilse DeLange, as a tribute to her passion for country music. Currently, the band also consists of J.B. Meijers, Jake Etheridge and Matthew Crosby.
At the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, the band represented the Netherlands with the song Calm after the storm, winning the first semi-final and eventually gaining a respectable second place with 238 points. Although Ilse DeLange’s musical partner at Eurovision and guest-Linnet Dutch artist Waylon decided to focus on his solo-career, Calm after the storm became a huge European hit leading to fame for the group throughout the continent. The Common Linnets continue to enjoy their success, as their latest album II proves.
