Cyprus: Minus One to Stockholm!

CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Minus One will represent Cyprus at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

The 2016 Cypriot entry will be produced by Minus One in collaboration with Thomas G:son. Thomas has an extraordinary Eurovision repertoire behind having composed and produced many Eurovision entries including the 2012 Swedish winning entry Euphoria.

Cyprus is the 4th country to reveal its act for Stockholm 2016, thus joining the Netherlands, Armenia and Montenegro all whom have announced their representatives.

Minus One shot to fame earlier this year when they competed in the 2015 Cypriot Eurovision national selection. They competed in the 2015 Cypriot national final with their entry Shine. The boys have gained much name, fame and recognition in their homeland thanks to their participation in Eurovision Project 2015.

CYBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster confirmed to ESCToday last month that it is likely to opt for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Stockholm.

In 2015 Cyprus selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national selection. John Karayiannis represented Cyprus at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry One thing I should have done.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Ericsson Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with Island and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the contest in 1981 with Anna Vissi, in 1997 with Hara and Andreas and in 2004 with Lisa Andreas when it came 5th in the competition.
