The third Semi final of Melodifestivalen 2008, Sweden's Eurovision Song Contest selection show took
place this evening. The next two finalists and second chance round acts are now decided. BWO cruised to the final with Lay your love on me
To the final:
- BWO – Lay your love on me
- Frida feat. Headline – Upp o hoppa
To the second chance round:
- Thérèse Andersson – When you need me
- Caracola – Smiling in love
5th place: Patrik Isaksson – Under mitt tunna skinn
6th place: Ainbusk – Jag saknar dig ibland
7th place: Mickey Huskic – Izdajice
8th place: Eskobar – Hallelujah new world
The first surprise of the night came when wildcard entry Escobar finished in last place. Wildcards rarely miss out on at least a place in the second chance round.
The two songs that go to Karlskrona for the second chance round will compete in a knock-out tournament. Tonight's second chancers now know their opposition in the first round of the second chance show:
- Thérèse Andersson Vs. Suzzie Tapper
- Caracola – Smiling in love Vs. Ola
The result means with six songs for the final at Globen, Stockholm on 15th March, Sanna Nielsen remains the only ballad. Last year, Sweden went into ballad hypermode – sending four to the final.
