Dutch broadcaster Avrotros has announced today that Douwe Bob has been internally selected to represent The Netherlands at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest scheduled to be held next May in Sweden.
The first act for Eurovision 2016 has been revealed today. Douwe Bob will have the honour of flying the Dutch flag in Stockholm come May. The 2016 Dutch Eurovision entry will be premiered next year.
Avrotros is very pleased with the selection of the 2016 Dutch Eurovision act. Doewe is among the most sought after singers in his homeland today. He composes, writes and performs his own songs.
Douwe Bob is honoured to represent The Netherlands in Stockholm:
I write songs and now I will get the chance to have my music heard on the biggest stage in Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest. I am going to to Stockholm to win and I am very very happy that I can do it my own way. It will be a very good experience!
The 2016 Eurovisin Song Contest will be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Swden.

The Dutch went internal for Eurovision 2015 and selected Trijntje Oosterhuis to fly the Dutch flag in Vienna with her song Walk Along. Despite a great performance she failed to qualify to the grand final in Vienna.
The Netherlands debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and is one of the founder members of our favourite television show. The country has won the event 4 times (1957, 1959, 1969 and 1975). The Netherlands has hosted the contest 4 times:in 1958 (Hilversum), 1970 (Amsterdam), 1976 and 1980 (The Hague).
