Estonia: Eesti Laul 2016 dates and rules revealed

ERR, the Estonian national broadcaster released the rules and regulations for the national selection Eesti Laul 2016. A total of 3 shows will determine the next representative for the Baltic country.

The song submission period has started already and it’s expected to end by the deadline of 2 November 2015 at 15:00. Within a month, a professional jury from ERR will select and announce the 20 competing acts on 11 December. The Estonian national selection is open only for local citizens and residents of the country.

Two semi-finals and one grand final will take place during the period between 13 February and 5 March 2016. Each semi-final will consist of 10 acts out of which only 5 lucky ones will make it to the Eesti Laul 2016 final, making a total of 10 participants.

The order of appearance for each show will be decided by draw and announced no later than on every Tuesday before each show. For each show, there will be a 50%-50% voting deliberation between the jury and the public vote.

Estonia participated in Vienna, Austria for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song Goodbye to yesterday performed by Elina Born and Stig Rästa. The country made it to the final where they managed to collect 106 points and take the 7th place in the final ranking.
