Lithuania: Jeronimas Milius to Eurovision

An operatic ballad by young Jeronimas Milius was tonight's big winner of the Lithuanian final that took place in the LRT studios in Vilnius. Love or leave is succeeded by Nomads in the night, another ballad of a different type this time.

Jeronimas Milius won tonight's Lithuanian televote with Nomads in the night, a strong, operatic ballad. Practically unknown to the biggest part of Lithuanian TV viewers and radio audience Jeronimas won the first Lithuanian semi final and proceeded to become 4Fun's successor to the Eurovision Song Contest national 2008. Jeronimas, a metal rocker at heart, has adapted the melodic rock song Nomads in the night for a wider audience and not just hard rock lovers.

The twenty-three-year-old singer was born in Vilnius. Since 2004 he has been a part of Soul brother metal band. His vocal teachers are the best Lithuanian rock music performers Česlovas Gabalis and Povilas Meškėla that he performs with.

Since his first victory in the first Lithuanian heat local press wrote "Stop Eurovizija, send Jeronimas to Belgrade" and it seems the Lithuanian public shared that view tonight and decided to choose Milius to represent them in Belgrade.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
