Eurolaul 2008, the Estonian national final for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, was held tonight. Through televoting, it was decided that Kreisiraadio will go to Belgrade with the song Leto svet.

Kreisiraadio won the competition, beating Ice cold story by Iiris Vesik and 365 Days by pop idol winner Birgit Õigemeel in a second round of voting after the three songs topped the first round. It was a landslide victory, with a winning margin of more than 20,000 votes. Kreisiraadio won 52,518 votes. The other nine songs combined won a total of 53,994 televotes.

After the first round, the top three had 31,429, 16,682 and 6,699 televotes respectively. The back-up jury selected Ice cold story as their favourite and 365 days in second place.

Estonia was very succesful in the Eurovision Song Contest in the late 1990s and early 2000s, while after hosting the competition in 2002 this has dramatically changed: the country has finished 21st in 2003 and has never made it to the final since 2004 onwards. In 2008, Estonia will compete in the first semi final to be broadcast on 20th May.
