Every year Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet organises the Rockbjörnen Awards where the readers can vote for their favourite artists and songs. Among the winners this year we find Melodifestival participants Måns Zelmerlöw and Sonja Aldén and the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest Swedish representatives, The Ark.
Måns Zelmerlöw had his big breakthrough in 2007, Cara mia took third place in Melodifestivalen and was a major hit. After that he has released four singles, Work of Art, Maniac, Brother oh brother and the Christmas duet All I wants for Christmas with Agnes Carlsson. Five singles, one hit album and a part in the musical Footloose helped him win the award for Best new artist.
Another artist who had her big breakthrough in 2007 was Sonja Aldén. It was this year that she made it to the Melodifestivalen final and her song För att du finns. Sonja won the award for best female artist of2007.
Melodifestival 2007 winners The Ark had a great year, three hits, a top selling album and a popular tour. They received the awards for Best live act.
The biggest winner of the night was Timbaland. He won three awards for best foreign artist, song and album. Timbaland have had a good year with three major hits, Give it to me (feat Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtardo), The way I am (feat Keri Hilson & D.O.E) and the song of the year Apologize with One Republic.
