Carola not arrested!

A false alarm for Carola fans was started earlier today when it was published on the internet that she had been arrested for perjury (lying in court). esctoday.com would like to ensure Carola fans not to be alarmed, the news is incorrect.

After giving evidence in a highly emotional rape case in Sweden, the opposing council, unsatisfied with her testimony, appears to have reported her to the police for lying in court. It seems that this has been done to undermine the evidence given by her. In no way, shape or form has Carola been arrested or imprisoned for perjury, neither has any case against her been brought by the opposition council or police.

The case relates to an alleged rape incident that occured on a tour that Carola participated in some time ago. She is neither implicated in the case or involved in any way other than a witness called to give evidence.

This story comes hot on the heals of the other front runner in the race to win Melodifestivalen, after Amy Diamond, dubbed 'the new Carola' after becoming a child star sensation in Sweden, accused Swiss Eurovision Song Contest representative Paolo Meneguzzi of plagarism over the weekend.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
