The second chance round of Laugardagslögin, the Icelandic selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, has been held tonight. Hvar ertu nú? by Dr. Spock is the 12th song to compete in the semi finals starting next week. Composer Dr. Gunni was the only one of the 12 composers invited by RÚV who had not qualified directly with one of his songs.

The twelve songs that are still in the running will be split into four semi finals and two songs of each semi final will qualify for the national final on 23rd February. The songs are:

In 2005, 2006 and 2007, Iceland did not manage to reach the final of the Eurovision Song Contest although the country was sometimes quite close finishing 16th, 13th and again 13th in the semi final respectively. Iceland will havetake part in one of the semi finalsin Belgrade.
