Global.Kryner, fronted by vocalist Sabine Steiger, represented Austria in Kyiv with the song Y así, a Latin-Alpine crossover track which won popularity amongst fans, but failed to make the grade in the semifinal. Finishing 21st out of 25 countries, its failure prompted Austria's withdrawal from the contest for a year, although the country returned in 2007.
