CT, Ceska Televize, the Czech national broadcaster has confirmed that the Czech Republic will return to the Eurovision Son Contest in 2015 after a 5 year absence from the event.

The Czech Republic is the 39th country to confirm its participation the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, whilst we are yet awaiting for Bulgaria’s final decision regarding its participation in Vienna.

The country will select its Eurovision entry and act via an internal selection. An expert jury will be responsible to select the 2015 Czech entries from a total of 5 entries specially comissioned for the occasion by 5 well known composers.

The official website of the Eurovision Song Contest revealed the news earlier today:

We are very excited to have Czech Republic return to the Eurovision Song Contest after 5 years of absence, making the Eurovision Family even more complete for the 60th anniversary edition.- Mr Jon Ola Sand– the Executive Producer of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the EBU has commented.

Czech Television is happy to be back again in that wonderful competition. After three entries in the previous years we hope to offer Europe a top quality Czech song- Ms. Marketa Stinglova, CT’s (CeskaTelevize) Manager of International Content Project Center commented regarding the Czech Republic’s Eurovision return.

The Czech Republic has been absent from the event since 2010. The landlocked central European country debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with Kabat’s Mala Dama and has competed in the event 3 times. 2009 marked the last participation of the Czech Republic with Gypsy.cz with Aven Romale. The country has never qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest final. Hence due to low viewing rates and poor results the broadcaster had decided to withdraw from the contest in 2010 and was absent from the event for 5 years.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna,Austria.
