Polish band Ich troje (Three of them) is invited to the German national final, which will be held in Kiel next year, reported Polish media yesterday. This means the band probably will not represent Poland in 2003.

Michał Wiśniewski, the leader of the band, received an invitation from the German broadcaster NDR to take part in the German national final. The group is about to release a record in Germany and Russia, and a possible winning would be a very good way to start there.

Polish fans of the band are disappointed, but fans of Eurovision and journalists are mostly confident, because Ich troje has very big chance to win the German national final after their recent huge success in Poland. Journalists and musicians criticize Ich troje for poor lyrics, most of the radio stations don't play their songs. But their albums sold very well, and their songs top charts very often.

The band was founded a few years ago by Michał Wiśniewski (main lyricist) and Jacek Łągwa (main composer). Magda Femme joined them shortly after, and she became the main vocalist. She quit two years ago and was replaced by Justyna Majkowska. With a new vocalist, they won the biggest song contest in Poland – Opole Festival 2001 with the song Powiedz (Say) and sold more than 500.000 copies of their album. Their last album is also selling very well.

If they'd represent Germany then we can guess where the Polish 'douze points' will go…
