Albania: RTSH confirms participation in Eurovision 2015

RTSH, the Albanian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Albania will  participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, next May.

Albania is  the 39th country to join the Eurovision party next May.

Albania will select its Eurovision entry and act via Festival I Kenges if the country is to participate at next year’s contest. The forthcoming edition of the Albanian song festival is scheduled to be held in Tirana on 26, 27, 28 December. The winner of the 53rd edition of Festival I Kenges will represent Albania at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.  The 2015 Albanian Eurovision entry and representative will be revealed on 28 December.

In 2014 Albania selected its Eurovision entry and act via Festival I KengesHersi won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with her entry One Night’s Anger, despite an energetic performance she failed to qualify to the grand final.

Albania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini. The country is yet to win the competition. Albania achieved its best placing in the contest in 2012 with Rona Nishliu’s Suus.

The official list of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest participants is expected to be released by the EBU by early January. The deadline for countries to submit their application in order to compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest concluded on 15 September. Hereafter all applicant countries had a grace period until 10 October to decide if they wished to proceed or withdraw their application without a financial penalty.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
