Norway: Maria Haukaas Mittet to tour

Maria Haukaas Mittet, who represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2008 with her entry Hold On Be Strong, will be performing three dates in her native country next month.

Maria released the album Heim on 20 October, and describes her new music as a return to her roots:

It was time to come home without having to go through the process of physically moving.. This is my tribute to northern Norwegian folk art and a way to get in touch with my roots

Friday 7 November – Kulturhuset Finnsnes

Saturday 8 November – Kulturhuset I Tromsø

Wednesday 19 November – Victoria, Nasjonal Jazzscene, Oslo

Maria, who married the actor Hans Marius Mittet in 2010, was known as Maria Haukaas Storeng when she sang for Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2008Her entry Hold On Be Strong finished in fifth place at the Grand Final of that year’s contest, which was held in Belgrade, Serbia, with a total of 182 points.

Norway has made 53 appearances at the Eurovision Song Contest since debuting in 1960, with three wins to date.  Norway was last represented at Eurovision by Carl Espen, who finished in eighth place at the Grand Final of the Copenhagen-staged contest of 2014 with Silent Storm.
