San Marino: Artist announcement in November

SMRTV, the Sammarinese national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that it will be announcing the name of the artist/act that will represent San Marino at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in November.

The Sammarinese broadcaster has also confirmed to ESCToday that San Marino will yet again select its Eurovision act and entry  for Vienna via an internal selection as has been the case since the country’s debut in 2008 with Miodio. The Sammarinese broadcaster released a press release on its official website stating that it plans to reveal the name of its Eurovision representative after the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest which is scheduled to be held in Malta on 15 November.  The exact date of the annoucement is yet to be determined.

In the press release SMRTV has also made a comment regarding the rumoured San Marino- Luxembourg joint collaboration and participation at the forthcoming Eurovision edition which has been reported on Luxembourgois newspaper  wort.lu. The San Marino RTV Director General has confirmed that there have been some talks between the two countries but the TV is evaluating other proposals.

San Marino debuted at the Eurovision  Song Contest in 2008 with Miodio’s Complice. The country is yet to win the event, its best placing has been a 24th placing in 2014 when Valentina Monetta flew the Sammarinese flag in Copenhagen with her entry Maybe. San Marino has participated in the contest 5 times since its debut, having missed out from the event in 2009 and 2010.

San Marino qualified to the grand final in 2014 with Valentina’s 3rd Eurovision attempt for San Marino. Valentina represented San Marino in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheuduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna.
