Magdi Rúzsa the talented Hungarian newcomer has won a silver Impala Sales Award based on record sales of over 30,000. Today's award announcement is confirmation of sales figures which were calculated for her album in April. Magdi reached 37,000 in sales for Ördögi angyal (Devilish Angel) before her performance in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest which earned her a 2nd place finish in the semi-final and a 9th place finish in the final.

According to IMPALA, "The IMPALA Sales Awards promote diversity and creativity. They are the first sales awards to recognise that success on a pan-European basis needs to be acknowledged on different levels starting well before the 1 million mark. For many independent music companies selling 30 000 is a significant success. This deserves recognition"

As esctoday.com reported in April, Magdi Rúzsa's record label, CLS Records, is a member of IMPALA; the international non-profit trade association launched the Impala European Sales Award in 2004 to help independent record labels market themselves and their artists on the basis of pan-European sales at different points in the success spectrum. Magdi's silver award goes to artists selling more than 30 000 copies of an album throughout Europe.

Other IMPALA winners announced today include: Katie Melua (Multi-Platinum), Tom Waits (Diamond), Cat Power (Gold), Frank Zappa (Gold), Gotthard (Silver), Kaolin (Silver), Quadro Nuevo (Silver), and Sunrise Avenue (Silver).
