TRM, the Moldovan national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Moldova will participate at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna next year.

TRM will most likely opt for national final in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Vienna. More details will be disclosed in due course. In 2014 the broadcaster opted for a national selection, when Cristina Scarlat won the golden ticket to Copenhagen.

Hence Moldova is the 34th  country to confirm its participation at the 2015  Eurovision Song Contest. The deadline for countries to submit their respective applications to the EBU in order to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest concluded on Monday 15 September. Hereafter all applicant countries have a grace period until 10 October to decide if they are to stay in the competition or withdraw without facing a financial penalty.

The official list of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest participants is expected to be released by the EBU by early January.

Moldova debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the contest. The country’s best placing was a 6th place in 2005 when it debuted at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with Zdob Si Zdub‘s Bunika Bate Toba!

Cristina Scarlat  represented Moldova at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Wild Soul, despite a powerful performance she failed to qualify to the grand final. Moldova has not missed a single contest since its debut in 2005, having competed a total of 10 times in the event.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
