According to Marco Brey from Germany, singer Oleksandar Ponomariov will represent the Ukraine at the 48th Eurovision Song Contest, next year in Riga. Bray also said that Pavlo Gridsak from the Ukraine broadcasting company NTU confirmed the news to him.
Ponomariov, who is 29 years old, is populair in his home country. With the song Vin chekaye nai nei he had an enormous hit recently.
It's said that NTU is searching for a good composition, which will be chosen by a jury later on this Eurovision season. This means that the Ukraine will not organise a national final.
This afternoon, esctoday.com contacted the webmaster of the official Ponomariov website to ask for an official statement. At this moment we are waiting for a reply.
